While people usually go to the spa to get their microdermabrasion treatments, you now can pamper yourself right from your own home.  Microdermabrasion treatments at home are becoming quite popular.

These at home kits can be bought right online and usually include aluminum oxide, diamond or micro-crystal microdermabrasion cream, applicators, exfoliating wands or hand pieces, skin rejuvenators and repairing lotions.  These treatments are safe, gentle and require no recovery time.

Looking for a safe, Diamond Microdermabrasion treatment?
YES | NO

For a more gentle treatment you can try the diamond microdermabrasion.  Many women use this treatment because it requires no chemicals, no anesthesia and it works on almost all skin types.  It effectively gets rid of acne, wrinkles, age spots, stretch marks and other skin blemishes.  The diamond treatments use tips that are covered in tiny little diamonds to exfoliate the skin.   Then you vacuum away the dead skin cells with the microdermabrasion machine. This leaves no particles, so you can perform the treatment in delicate spots such as around your eyes and mouth. The diamonds combined with the suction exfoliates the skin, stimulates collagen production and increases the blood flow in the skin.

One such microdermabrasion home treatment is NuBrilliance.  This at home treatment combines diamond exfoliation with suction because true microdermabrasion happens with suction.  NuBrilliance minimizes the appearance of wrinkles, age spots, fine lines, cellulite, stretch marks, enlarged pores and uneven skin texture.  You will begin to experience improved tissue health, rejuvenated skin, healthy cell development, natural collagen and elastin production, unclogged pores and a clean, moisturized face.

Microdermabrasion Home Kit – Does It Worth The Money?

What Is A Microdermabrasion Home Kit?

Microdermabrasion home kit is a facial treatment kit which contains everything you need for a professional microdermabrasion right in your own home. Generally, a microdermabrasion home kit include 4 main components namely, microdermabrasion cream, foam head, hand piece and post treatment serum. The purpose of the microdermabrasion home kit is to diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, acne scarring, sun damage and other visible signs of aging. Besides, it helps to exfoliate the old skin layer so that your skin will be more “receptive” to skin care products.

What Is the Cost Of A Home Kit?

Depending on the brands or ingredients included, you are expected to spend between $25-$100 for a microdermabrasion home kit. Almost all home kits contain microdermabrasion cream with crystals. The exfoliating crystals in the cream actually helps to remove dirt, oil and dead skin thereby rejuvenating and revitalizing your skin.

Does It Worth The Money?

Whether a microdermabrasion home kit is worth the money really depends on your level of expectations. Although having a professional microdermabrasion is a more effective facial treatment, multiple sessions are usually required before you can achieved the desired results. Besides, on-going microdermabrasion treatment sessions may be needed to maintain the results. Therefore, this can roll into higher cost which may not be affordable for most people.

Even though microdermabrasion home kit is not as powerful as in professional treatments, they can still produce good results over time especially if you have milder skin issues. In fact, some of the patients recommended having professional treatments and at the same time perform facial treatment at home in-between professional visits.

One advantage of using home kit is that you can be in control of the microdermbrasion procedure. One home kit can lasts you for at least 10 treatments and you should not use it for more than 2 times a day. Usually, a course of 10-15 applications is generally recommended before you can expect to see any considerable changes to your skin.

Cautions On Using Microdermabrasion Home Kit

Before you start the facial treatment at home, make sure that you are not allergic to any of the ingredients in the microdermabrasion home kit. You should stop further application if you experiences any pain or discomfort. In fact, there will be little or no risks at all as long as you follow closely to the directions given in the home kits. Experts recommended that home kit should be utilized at night before bed. This is because you are less likely to pick up dirt and grease at this time of day. Hence, upon application, your skin will have a higher chance to heal in clean conditions.

In fact, you can still enjoy the benefits of microdermabrasion by using a home kit. Therefore, microdermabrasion home kit has become a popular facial treatment at home for complexion issues like wrinkles, uneven skin tones, acne and enlarged pores. As compare with professional treatments, home kit is safe and affordable alternative for most patients. Besides, many patients like the idea of getting a facial treatment in the privacy of their home and at their convenience.

If you are considering getting a microdermabrasion treatment, why not try the microdermabrasion home kit first? If you want to achieve desirable results faster, you should go for diamond microdermabrasion.

Youthful Essence Microdermabrasion Home System

This kit is deemed a very popular choice amongst the consumers and was developed by a team of award winning skincare specialists (Dean and Amy Rhoade – husband and wife) and was eventually placed into the market by Susan Lucci.

The product was initially created for celebrity clients who wished to continue their microdermabrasion treatment at home and yet, achieve the same results that a professional salon or centre would obtain.

In summary, the Youthful Essence microdermabrasion home system contains:

1. Vitamin-Enriched Resurfacing Cream (micro crystal cream which also nourishes the skin while exfoliating it)

2. A resurfacing tool

3. Cleansing facial wash

4. Facial mist and toner

5. Daily protection moisturises with SPF15

This system is a well balanced product which combines impressive cosmetic technology and luxurious spa-quality ingredients. The resurfacing cream is enriched with Vitamin-E and is formulated with finely ground mineral crystals and nutrient-rich cream possessing antioxidant properties. The cream nourishes the skin whilst subtly exfoliates the dry, worn-out upper most surface of the skin.

The resurfacing tool is very user friendly and it gently helps the skin initiate the skin-renewal process. The soothing massaging motion of the tool coupled with the soft sponge applicator allows for even and safe exfoliation.

The included cleansing facial wash, facial mist and toner and daily protection moisturiser (with SPF15), are designed to prepare, soothe and protect exfoliated skin.

Most customers using this system have rated this product either excellent or satisfactory based on visual results of skin – skin surrounding the eyes is significantly revitalised, skin pores appear smaller, acne scars and wrinkles are less apparent. Surprising, patient trials have revealed that most people have smoother skin after treatment and results are obtained as early as the first round of treatment. Consumers have stated that the system must be used at least four times per week in order for maintenance of good visual results.

Contraindications

Some of the products in this package contain alpha hydroxyl acids or retinol which can cause increased skin sensitivity. In addition, people who suffer from bad acne and highly sensitive skin are advised not use this system. Customers have also reported adverse reactions such as acne breakouts, severe redness, and extreme sensitivity. A small number of people with sensitive skin have said that this product may not be appropriate for them as they find the crystals a bit harsh on their skin.

The Verdict:

This product has demonstrated that results can be visualised quickly and for those with sensitive skin, there is a special resurfacing cream formula available.

The standard system cream is not indicated for sensitive skin and the micro crystals may be too harsh on the skin. This can lead to possible acne breakouts, redness, and increased skin sensitivity; in this case, the special cream formula should then be ordered.

In summary this system may be a good choice for home microdermabrasion but it would help if more published literature reviews were made available to members of the public so that a general consensus about the product can be made. With this in view, it would seem appropriate to ask professionals (e.g. Dermatologists, Salon beauticians etc.)

At home with Microdermabrasion

So what exactly is microdermabrasion? And how does it work for you? For starters, it’s a great alternative to costly and invasive cosmetic procedures like Botox, chemical peels and plastic surgery. It gives your skin a fresh glow by reducing fine lines, acne marks, clogged pores and oily skin. And the best part is it’s painless!

This treatment, also called the lunchtime peel since it takes about 30 minutes, removes dead skin cells through particle resurfacing. You will notice smooth glowing skin instantly after the first session itself. Over time, there will be a marked improvement in fine lines and scars. Microdermabrasion works especially well on acne. In case you’re wondering how come it works on young skin dotted with acne and older skin sketched with wrinkles? It does by simply removing the topmost layer of one’s skin, making it possible to smoothen out wrinkles, scars and other skin imperfections.

What happens is a machine is used to apply tiny rough grains that gradually scrape away the skin’s surface. It can be used on the face, neck, chest, back, feet and hands. This microdermabrasion machine has a compressor and pump that mixes gentle abrasion with suction to remove the skin’s dead cells. This makes the skin regenerate its cells faster leading to a more youthful looking skin.

As you can see the benefits of microdermabrasion are plenty:

Revitalizes dull skin Gives a more even skin tone Reduces stretch marks, mild pigmentation, enlarged pores Erases acne marks, fine lines and wrinkles Reduces the harmful effects of the sun & pollution No anaesthesia is used It works on any skin tone and hardly needs any recovery time

As a matter of fact, unlike other skin procedures, it lets you get back to your routine after one hour. After the first session you will notice a mild swelling and redness. Depending on your skin type, these effects will wear away after an hour or maximum one day.

You may find your skin peeling after this treatment, that’s why you must always use a sun screen and moisturizer after each session. Actually, it’s best to avoid the sun for at least 24 hours. Since the topmost layer of your skin has been exfoliated, the treated area will be a little sensitive on the first day. But as a trade off, the skin’s texture would have improved and advanced skin care products will be more effective now that they can easily penetrate into the deeper layer of the skin. This will stimulate collagen production over time, giving you a distinctly youthful appearance!

For this treatment to be effective in the long run you will need multiple sessions. Six sessions are recommended every 2 weeks for long lasting results. But doing it in the comfort of your house makes it less daunting. No commuting. No appointment making. No waiting rooms. Just you and your dependable machine!  And you won’t be burning a hole in your pocket by paying $75 to $150 for each treatment at a spa or dermatologist’s office!

Is There Any Way To Do A Home Microdermabrasion Or Skin-peeling Without Visiting A Dermatologist?

December 11, 2009 by admin

I have a few acne-scars on my back and have read that microdermabrasion (resurfacing the skin) or chemical skin-peeling are both popular ways to remove the outer layer of skin / get rid of the scars. Are there any “home” kits for performing this or alternative ways of performing it without a visit to a dermatologist? The closest one to me is about 2 hours away.

How To Use Your Home Microdermabrasion Kit

December 10, 2009 by admin

Although there are literally dozens of treatments available today for just about every skin condition there is, microdermabrasion still remains quite popular.  The reason for this is partly to do with the ease with which consumers can experience microdermabrasion not only in professional spas but also in the comfort of their own homes thanks to the sale of home kits and creams. These microdermabrasion home kits can cost anywhere between $20- 300 and are sold in most health & beauty stores that can be found in any mall across the country. Although such kits can be useful in exfoliating the skin it’s important not to be under any illusion that such kits can get you the same results as professional microdermabrasion treatments. Just because it’s called a microdermabrasion kit that does not mean it’s in any substantial way the same as professional treatment. Before spending your money on false promises and unrealistic expectations, make sure you know the difference between real microdermabrasion and what is sold as home microdermabrasion kits.

Microdermabrasion is in essence an advanced form of exfoliation. That means it removes the dead skin cells from the surface of the face or body, thus encouraging the production of fresh new cells at a faster rate, which over time creates a more vibrant skin tone as well as reducing the visibility of wrinkles, minor blemishes, scars etc. Traditionally the microdermabrasion procedure has relied on the use of abrasive crystals to perform the exfoliation process. Now, what the makers of microdermabrasion home kits have done is simply make up skin creams containing a few beneficial ingredients like vitamins and added the same crystals used in professional microdermabrasion. This is the great selling point that home kit makers exploit. What consumers need to understand however, is that the effectiveness of professional microdermabrasion relies not so much on the use of crystals, but the rather the specific way in which they are used. Once this is understood it becomes clear that many of the claims made by home kit makers are patently false.

Receiving treatment at a spa or doctors office differs in two basic and important ways to using a home kit. Firstly, professional treatment makes no use of creams, whereas in home kits creams are often the most essential element and advertised as containing the ‘magic ingredients’ that will fix your skin. This is misleading for a number of reasons. While it’s true that many creams contain aluminum oxide crystals which are the same as what is used with professional machines, it’s not so much the substance that is important as it is the method of delivery. Professional treatment delivers the crystals to the skin at a high speed and it is this that causes exfoliation. With home kits you are restricted to rubbing the cream into your face which is not nearly as effective and sometimes even leads to complications.

Secondly, there is no cream or any moist substance used in professional treatment. The crystals are delivered to a dry face. This is important because a basic component of treatment is the extracting of spent crystals along with dead skin cells away from the surface of the skin. With home kits there is no such option and the only way to remove the crystals is through washing the face which is nowhere near as effective as an air powder pump in a closed circuit system. In fact a common complaint about home creams is that they are oily and difficult to wash of. This is more than an inconvenience as in some cases it is the cream combined with the scrubbing that lodges these tiny abrasive crystals into the skin pores which causes irritation and spots.

Although it should be absolutely clear that home kits cant give you the same results as pro treatment when it comes to specific problems like acne, acne scars, sun damage etc. that doesn’t mean that home kits are all together useless. On the contrary it is highly recommended to make use of the kits on a regular basis as part of a general skin maintenance program. However, it would be more accurate to market such kits simply as home exfoliation kits that cannot get rid of acne scars but with regular prolonged use will improve the overall appearance of skin and possibly reduce slightly very fine lines and wrinkles.

Microdermabrasion at a Doctor’s Office, Exfoliating Machines, and Home Microdermabrasion Compared

Until now, professional-quality microdermabrasion treatments cost up to $200.00 each. Over the counter products now let you do it yourself at home and save! Crystal-bonded applicators use the same aluminum oxide crystals as expensive medical-grade machines stimulate the production of elastin and collagen, just like a professional treatment – for comparable results at an affordable price!

HOW IT WORKS

Microdermabrasion at a doctor’s office or spa: Aluminum oxide crystals, the hardest and best for microdermabrasion, are applied under high pressure with a medical-grade device by trained doctors and aestheticians.

Exfoliating Machines and Creams: Cream-based formulae are often applied with a “free” motorized device to appear more effective. But cream reduces abrasion, so stimulation of collagen and elastin is negligible.

Home Microdermabrasion: Medical-grade aluminum oxide crystals applied directly to the skin stimulate production of elastin and collagen just like a professional treatment.

EFFECTIVENESS

Microdermabrasion at a doctor’s office or spa: Most effective removal of dead, damaged skin cells. Stimulates production of elastin and collagen to reduce wrinkles, fine lines, acne scars, etc., but too costly to do regularly.

Exfoliating Machines and Creams: Exfoliation of superficial dead skin cells may produce a temporary glowing effect with daily use. Minimal stimulation of skin or impact on wrinkles, fine lines, acne scars or other blemishes.

Home Microdermabrasion: Removes dead and damaged skin cells, which strengthens and thickens skin just like professional treatments, reducing acne scars, wrinkles, fine lines and blemishes.

EASE OF USE

Microdermabrasion at a doctor’s office or spa: Requires regular appointments and travel to a doctor’s office or spa. Skin needs time to heal after treatment, so should only be done periodically.

Exfoliating Machines and Creams: Must be used almost every day for as much as 10-15 minutes. Minimal affect on skin after treatment.

Home Microdermabrasion: Do it yourself right at home. Skin needs a brief time to heal afterwards, just like a doctor’s treatment. Use every two weeks, NOT every day.

COST

Microdermabrasion at a doctor’s office or spa: Up to $200 per treatment

Exfoliating Machines and Creams: $39.95 – $129.95

Home Microdermabrasion: $79.95
6 Applications

COST FOR 90 DAYS

Microdermabrasion at a doctor’s office or spa: Up to $1,200 or more. Regular treatments cost thousands!

Exfoliating Machines and Creams: $100 – $300.00; $3 to $5 a day

Home Microdermabrasion: $79.95; Less than $1 a day

* Microdermabrasion requires appropriate skin care afterwards to help heal and protect your new skin, including the custom-designed moisturizers, hydrating lotions and sun screens.

Home Microdermabrasion And Its Amazing Effects

November 28, 2009 by admin

Microdermabrasion is used to treat several types of skin problems including acne scars, wrinkles, fine lines, discoloration, and sun damage. The results are clearer, smoother, and younger-looking skin.

Microdermabrasion is often performed in a clinic or spa. It is highly effective in treating most skin conditions but can be quite costly and also carry some risk. Although microdermabrasion is one of the safest skin care treatments around, risks include perforation, infection, bleeding and discoloration. The good news is you can now treat your skin with home microdermabrasion kits for a fraction of the cost and risk. These kits are designed for use at home and so are easy to apply.

The main actions of microdermabrasion are to get rid of dead skin cells, cleanse the skin’s pores, and promote the rebuilding of new skin cells in the skin. Basically, microdermabrasion uses exfoliation to accomplish all these tasks.

Skin sheds occasionally, but in some cases, skin cell turnover is slow and dead skin cells accumulate. This makes your skin appear patchy and dull. Microdermabrasion acts to slough off dead skin cells to reveal the smoother and healthier skin underneath. Microdermabrasion also sloughs off raised scars and reduce their depth so that they are less visible.

When excess sebum and bacteria accumulate on the skin, your skin’s pores become clogged. As a result, they become irritated, red, itchy, and inflamed. When the affected areas erupt, scars form and your complexion turns dull, oily/dry, and full of bumps. What microdermabrasion does is unclog those pores so your skin can “breath” and return to its healthy state.

Finally, microdermabrasion stimulates healthy blood circulation. When you have healthy blood circulation, oxygen and nutrients are able to reach your skin effectively. This means your skin will be able to heal properly so that scars don’t form.

These are only the common actions of the typical microdermabrasion treatment. There are actually home microdermabrasion products like ZENMED containing special ingredients that treat and prevent certain skin conditions as well as maintain healthy, youthful skin. For example, the ZENMED Renewing Serum contains alpha-hydroxy acids, which are natural exfoliating agents deriving from fruits. These agents can remove the outer layer of the skin that has become dull and inflamed without the harshness. The serum is used alongside a skin care system to maintain healthy skin and prevent unwanted skin problems.

Another skin care solution is the Microdermabrasion Complex, which also gives that exfoliating effect, except this time it is used to specifically treat stubborn scars. It uses micro-spheres to smoothen out skin, and because these are very tiny beads, they do not irritate the skin. What these micro-spheres do is gradually remove jagged bumps on the skin, much like sanding wood for a smoother surface but with no harshness.

Find microdermabrasion products that can be applied to both the face and body, as body acne is common. There are a variety of skin care systems where you are able to use the product on both the face and body.
